I guess I could get a plan from hostingAtoZ and put the old sites under development names and see how they run...well...after looking at their plans, I'd have to go for the highest plan ($65 or so per year, which still isn't bad at all) to get 10 MySQL databases, which still wouldn't be enough to test all my sites. Guess I could just run a site or two, then put others in their place.

I've been using cf since version 1.5 and I can count the number of times I've used CFGrid on one hand (with a few fingers left to spare). You really shouldn't run into any significant issues with older code. As has previously been mentioned, most (if not all) of the deprecated tags still work. whether or not you want to change your parameterExists() to isDefined() or structKeyExists() would be your call. but as you move forward, you'll probably want to be aware of some of the better practices that have surfaces (such as using structKeyExists() over isDefined()) and implement those for new development. You can get a jump on some of those best practices by looking over Sean's coding guidelines at http://livedocs.macromedia.com/wtg/public/coding_standards/contents.html If nothing else, invest a few bucks for a cheap plan with hostingAtoZ. this way you don't have to buy any licenses, and you can take CFMX7 for a spin around the block, kick the tires, etc, and see just how easy the transition will be.
