The issue with the hosting company woudn't be that you created a mapping.
Cos as you say, just making a mapping wont hurt anyone.   But the issue
would be that you touched a part of the system you didnt have access to,
just as surely as if you had hacked into the CFAdmin.      I'd be thinking
'if he did that, whats to stop him deleting someone else's mapping?  whats
to stop him setting up something that's against our TOS."     The first step
would be disabling CreateObject and CFObject tags immediately without
notice.

Your site would be deleted on my system if I found you had even attempted to
look into the CFAdmin just to peek around.

I would STRONGLY advise against doing anything on a shared server that
involves the servicefactory, unless you have cleared it with them first.
YOU might know your intentions are totally benign, but you couldn't blame
them if they took the view that in the interests of who-knows-how-many users
they can't take any chances.

Just because you CAN, doesnt mean its a good idea to have a go at it.
