Trust me Dave, that isn't the case. If BSD was not there, the Internet
wouldn't be what it is today.

hallelujah

But if they had more users then magically there would be more holes in the
install!! ;)~

And I quote:

"Only one remote hole in the default install, in more than 8 years!"

End of argument.

Yes, nothing is completely secure but this crud windows users always whine
about "but if there were as many macs..."
No, osx is based upon a MORE secure system... PERIOD... Doesnt mean its 100%
tight but the system is just more secure.
Again, that's why windows has been trying to emulate the way unix security
is run but until windows starts from the ground up and builds a better base
windows wont ever be as secure, doesnt matter how many users they have, u
cant polish a turd.

If u like windows great, use it. But if you are gunna debate it then dont
use that god aweful argument. Just like all these ppl who say that cause now
osx has intel chips that is more vulnerable... wtf does that have to do with
the base system?

And we were kidding back and forth in good humor, dont wet your pants over
it.

Heh! To a certain extent it's true, what you say, Mike.

But I think it's pretty undeniable that BSD is "more secure" than windows.

But where there's a will, there's a way, as they say. Quite true.
So I don't disagree, but I qualify- it's not quite so cut and dry.

Mostly the different mindset is the key, but you see that going out the
window with OS X, as far as running a bunch of needless stuff. Which is what
most consumers want, so... eh.

But at least BSD in general, and OS X a little, are "open", and thus their
source can be reviewed. While I'll be the first to say that can open you up
to security threats, I'll also be the first to say that it's the only way to
really be secure. As supporting argument, look at PGP.

But security is an illusion, and there are myriad ways to skin a cat (or
descale a fish, as the case may be)- OppSys is really only a little piece of
the puzzle. Like OpnSrc.

'tis but a bit, of the byte, that is... "feeling good".

I'm digging google desktop, but it scares the crap outta me too.
Just like Samurize did. And firefox plugins do. Or plugin's in general.
"It's so easy to fall in love / oh it's so easy".

Eh, it's a dangerous world out there anyways, at anny moment, BANG!
Smashed by that Semi-truck. (Or meteor, as the case may be.)

Living in fear is how The Man controls us though, so, you know, you can't
give in

too much.
:D
