Yep, that would work for select, but any updates/inserts would probably be a real pain. I don't know what idiot named the field "URL", but I'm guilty of being the exact same kind of idiot myself in the past. Fortunately, that field is a VERY minor one; one that isn't refered to very often, so it seems to me the easiest fix would be to change the field name, and any references to the actual field itself.
