What about using evaluate(), or thrd["#i#"], or 
<cfset "thrd#i#" = ...>?

Yes, I did that.  But the problem I'm having is knowing where exactly to
put these things.  I'm pretty sure I put taglib.cftld in the right spot,
because when it wasn't there I got the "you can't use a tag starting
with 'CF'" error.
