You could use a MATCHES search for a specific date, if you added that
date as one of the custom fields in your Verity collection, but date
ranges are pretty much out as far as I know (I'm happy to be wrong
here, if anyone knows better).

This is one of the reasons I moved to Oracle Text - any DB criteria
can be mixed in with the full-text search in the one query.
