Typically, if you set the username and password within the datasource settings in the CF Administrator, you don't have to set them in your CFQUERY tags. I'm not sure if setting them in your CFQUERY tags overrides the values within the CF Administrator, but if it does, and you set it incorrectly within the CF Administrator, that would explain why you need to set them in your CFQUERY tags. > 2. Is there a way to set a default datasource for CF? No. However, you could presumably write a custom tag to invoke CFQUERY for you, which would effectively provide the same result. I wouldn't recommend you do this, though, because it would introduce many more serious problems to solve something that's not very important.
