It shouldn't.  Maybe they just haven't added that feature to the tortoise
eclipse plugin
yet?  I'm unfamiliar with it, personally. I use Subclipse. And the windows
based tortoise.
Haven't had any problems switching 'tween them.

IIRC, the main troubles with using tortoise and subclipse come into play if
you're
using the _svn directories instead of the .svn ones.

So either way /theoretically/ should work.
