Dave, Ok... examine the runtime logs found in /runtime/bin/logs/ They should give you more info on what's happening when you try and start CF. A couple things come to mind. CF has to be able to manipulate the indexes. If the CF Server is running on a local or domain user acccount (as opposed to a system account) it's possible that change in security on the domain has made verity unable to start. Email me those logs off-list and I'll see if there's anything that catches my eye.

Mark, thanks but unfortunately, the answer to both is no. In fact, access to the server is highly limited (I don't even have access to the file level myself) and the client swears that no one who has access has done anything differently. The problem is that because I've been working on an indexing project, doing alot of indexing, etc., I'm getting blamed for the problem. I think he thinks I did something with cfcollection (which I did not) but it sounds to me like an internal CF thing (like CF can't load the .jar file (I'm assuming a .jar file) that is the verity service (since it's not a service like in MX 7). Any other thoughts anyone? I'm desparate to get a solution here outside of re-installing ColdFusion.
