Correction:
*You can do this in Java but you have to watch out for inaccuracies due to
data type demotion during the shift.
I believe the problem was addressed and patched in later JREs though.

Just looking at the CF docs, there's BitMask functions as well - and I have
no idea what they do! Is there an example somewhere that anyone knows of?

The concept is cool, but the math is doing my head in :D
