If you install WindowsXPPRo, when you're starting the install, you get
the option to delete the current partition.  Do that,  which will
clear all the disk contents.

Then create a new partition.  (tis' all in the windows install routine)

That will trigger a reformat of the HDD.

I think that will do it for you.
