Like you, I personally prefer the reply at the top, so I don't have to scroll down unless I need to review the OP. Usually the subject line is enough to tell me what I'm reading about, so most of the time I don't need to review the OP, but I do always want to read the reply. So, on the average, it would seem putting the reply at the top would save the most scrolling time.
