This is a loaded question... Everyone likes the place they are at and think they are the best, so do I.
I have made many suggestion as many others have. What I do notice is that no one seems to be using the services that I use and most everyone is using the same services. That tell's me that most everyone is just following the majority with out giving the other smaller services a chance. And if they have used the services they are not commenting on them. I think if you have had bad experience you should share and in turn good experience. I use eNom over GoDaddy have for many years. They have an API, easy to use DNS, email services and much more. They also have 2 types of reseller accounts that are free and easy to use. I am with Hostech.com for only $25/month. FREE Setup $5/month per added domain Windows, ColdFusion or Linux hosting 3+ GB disk space 50+ GB traffic per month 100 Email accounts per domain Static IP per domain And there is more and its month to month billing. I shopped around and found no one that could match this. Why don't you visit www.forta.com and checkout some reviews.
