That sounds like a connectivity issue rather than syntax.

Anyone know how to rename a table from within ColdFusion MX6.1 running
MSSQL Server 2005.

sp_rename '#old_tablename#', '#new_tablename#'
</CFQUERY>
I am receiving this error.
Error Executing Database Query.
[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection
refused: connect
