Hi Rob, Yes, JQuery can compete feature for feature with Prototype & Scriptaculous. To answer your question, JQuery itself doesn't have DnD. Just like Prototype, it relies on a third party plugin called Interface to provide that functionality and many other effects. Thats essentially what Scriptaculous does; provide all of the cool effects.
Having used both sets, I find Jquery much easier to work with overall especially since they're focus is heavily on manipulating the DOM, which is what you end up doing 95% of the time when leveraging a library.
