At my current workplace, we are still using CF 5, but have been evaluating
MX 7 for a while now.

When time and budget permit we will make the leap into MX 7.

In my spare-time I try and think of new apps or projects for the company
that would leverage the benefits and new features of MX 7.

Ever since CF 3.0, when I started, I have stayed away from using CFForm.
Coming from a traditional programming background, I felt very comfortable
with Javascript and would build my own validation routines. Since that was
the only benefit CFForm provided at the time, I had no use for it.

Now with MX 7, and the mini-Flex-lite engine built into CFForm, I wanted to
see if I can leverage its benefits.

The folks at ASFusion.com have some amazing examples of how to build an
almost Flex-like application in ColdFusion.

I have downloaded their real-estate application and got it running.

But that's where it ends.

I don't know how to take something like that and customize it to my own
needs.

I'm not a very graphics-oriented person. As I mentioned earlier, I come
from a traditional CS background.

I was wondering if there are others like me, who are not graphics oriented,
who have also been trying to get the most out of CFForm in MX 7, using the
ASFusion Real Estate App as an example. This is a plea to those of you, who
are able to leverage it, and then explain it in terms that a
non-graphics-idiot like me can understand. How to get the VBoxes and HBoxes
lined up or nested, to have a visually stunning app.

Maybe what I want is a side-by-side comparison, maybe an HTML layout with
Tables and Div's and how those translate into VBoxes and HBoxes.

I will wait to see if anyone responds to this post.

If there are enough responses, I will post my CFForm attempts. That attempt
was after I downloaded the real-estate app from ASFusion, and then using
that as sort of my reference, I tried emulating an app that I did with HTML
Tables.

Again I hope people respond, I'm interesting in hearing others'
experiences/advices/what-have-you

Thanks,

Ali
