I also find Apache is faster and more reliable. We use IIS at our company
but that is due to our links with Microsoft, I would happily move to Apache
if I could!

I run both locally for testing etc.

I like it because it will run on windows, linux, os x, etc..

And it's just cool.  Open source, huge community, etc., etc..
