I don't know if this will answer your question or not (having never used
CR before), but Allaire's latest newsletter (10/20/00) to Allaire
partners had this Q&A on CR 8:

"Q: Is ColdFusion 4.5.1 compatible with Crystal Reports 8??

A: ColdFusion 4.5.1 does work with Crystal Reports 8 WHEN using a
workaround.

Allaire discovered that there was a bug in one of Crystal Reports DLL's
for Version 8.0 when type = HTML. Seagate Software has it documented on
their web site, and if you want to take a look at it the article is at:
http://support.seagatesoftware.com/library/kbase/articles/c2006853.asp

- One work-around is to use the CFOBJECT tag and call their COM object.
- Another work-around is to change your .cfm file to add an attribute to
the CFREPORT tag of Type=

** The workaround will not be needed after the ColdFusion 5.0 release.

Good Knowledgebase article -->

Hope that helps somewhat.
