I've gone back and done things this way... but I can't figure out if it's working or not. I had to go back and edit the jrun.xml to change the deactivated value of the ProxyService node to false in the new instance... then I recreated the cluster, and re-ran the web server configuration utility.. looks like I'm good to go now.
