We have installed and used CF on Debian servers without any problems. I have also a tutorial about CF installation process on Debian Sarge. http://howtoforge.com/coldfusion_installation_debian_sarge
I know CF works on Slackware but as an old Slackware user I would definitely suggest Debian for server platform because of maintainability. Slackware is good but Debian is better. :) Just my 2 cents.
