They do, but $100 off of $200 more is still $200 more :)

I agree with Dave in that I felt a little "sticker shock" when I saw
the price announced.  Last year was my first CFUnited (and I had a
blast), but I paid my own way, and would likely not have been able to
at $200 more (to be frank, it was a tight squeeze for me to be able to
do it at last year's price...which isn't a reflection on the
price...but the piss poor condition of my personal finances <g>).

However, I don't know the first thing about the cost of running the
conference.  At $649, maybe Michael broke even, or even lost money.
If that's the case, then I understand the increase.  As much as it
sucks for the attendees to have to pay more, you can't realistically
ask someone to invest the kind of time into putting together a
conference that's on the scale of CFUnited and not have it be worth
their while to do so.

So if that's the case, it's understandable.

If it's "hey, we are -the- premiere CF conference of the year and
people will pay whatever we ask in order to attend"...then that's
kinda sad :\
