What in the HELL is up with Adobe?

I tried a few WEEKS ago to get customer service on the phone since
their regular support could not give me one of my CF serial numbers so
I could upgrade one of my CF licenses.  At that time I heard "Due to
the overwhelming response to Acrobat 8 we are too busy to answer the
phone.  Please call back later. *click*

I guess they haven't made enough money on Acrobat to hire some phone
operators, or the story is pure BS, because I am still getting that
message (weeks later) despite repeated dialing.  I need that damn
license now and can't keep waiting.  Does anyone know of a usable
backchannel?

This is an inexcusable level of non-service.
