I recently did an install in Windows 2003 Server and had the same problem. What ended up being the problem was when it got to the IIS portion, I accepted the default and it did not work. I had to actually point the installation to the IIS server on my machine, and specifically to the default web site, and the install worked great. I had this happen on two servers in the same day.
