While I agree that would be easier, in a high volume environment, every
extra query counts against load times.  While I don't think his survey
is necessarily high volume, what you suggest kinda goes against my
grain. =)

Richard. Why not just add a row to your table? I would add one called
say
answerCount(int) and when someone submits an answer I would simply
update
the columns value. Then your query would be quite easy.
