I'm currently working on my first e-commerce solution (don't ask me how that's even possible after this many years as a developer!). Much of the back end work I'm very comfortable with, but I've never worked with online payment processing. Can anyone suggest some resources to the payment portion for this type of solution? I'm aware of the "mail-order" aspect to processing orders (not billing until the product ships) and have built that functionality into the application. I'm more concerned with the actual communication and authorization of payments. Can anyone suggest a good credit card processing service or give me any advice on this?
