The error does not occur any time I call the stored procedure.  It has been 
occurring  a couple of times a day randomly over the past week.  It could occur 
once in the morning and then later again in the late afternoon. 

I'm going to try your suggestion of dumping the sp_help resultset.  I'll also 
start researching database driver hotfixes.
