Just trying to avoid taking my hands off the keyboard to select a file.

If I'm typing something and see that I need to open another file from within
my project, it would be great for me to hit a key sequence, switch over to
the navigation pane, bring up the file, then switch back to editing. All
without using the mouse.

I'm just surprised that it's not there. Basically I want to bring focus to
the navigation pane with a keystroke.

What are you trying to achieve?
