I'd not use cfajax.  Arjun has abandoned that project, and started
MXAjax to replace it.  CFAjax has unpatched security holes, and
doesn't work on Safari.

That said, I think I ran into the same problem once, and found that
submit() isn't supported by all of the browsers.  I can't remember
what I did to get around it, sorry.
