-------- OK dokey , great ! Thanks very much for the input - I'll have a play around with both options. The main reason behind this is to keep user navigation "tight" and within a single screen where possible and also, put as much processing (as reasonably as possible) on the client side : I mean, most folks have decent PC's these days so why should I give them my future server(s) resource - let the user's pay!
