What makes best sense in a shopping cart system with about 1500 products (and all the usual price, new, sale, photo, description, dateadded, etc, columns), to do one big query of all of them together and keep it cached and then for each category and individual pages, do a query of query against it, or just do and cache each smaller query, no big one?
