Jim! That worked great! The object instantiated first time. Very cool.
And the answer makes so much sense! Duh... :op

Anyway,

Now I'm having trouble actually calling any methods in the object. If
you or anyone could help, I'd be most appreciative (of course, I'll keep
reading and trying stuff on my own too).

Here's my code:

<!--- instantiate the object and dump it. This works great! --->
<cfset  BBAPI = CreateObject("COM", "BBAPI.API")>
<CFDump var="#BBAPI#" expand="false"><p>

<!--- Now try to use one of the methods in the object --->
<cfset VIN = Upper("1g2wn67t8n9264262")>
<cfset str = BBAPI.getVINValues("#VIN#)">
<CFDump var="#str#">

I keep getting:
Variable STR is undefined. What do I do about this? I thought that once
I had the object instantiated, that I would be able to access it like
any other object or component. I'm using the method just the way the
author's API documentation shows.

Stumped again. :o(
