Jochem, It wouldn't with the rewrite rules I provided since those escape existing files/directories, so I just tested it out, removing the rewrite conditions to escape existing files.
getCurrentTemplatePath() returns the correct value regardless of the rewrite rule - at least when used from any template or include from template which URL's are being rewritten. For obvious reasons, I wasn't able to test it on a template that wasn't a target of the rewrite.
