Well, there's always the <marquee> tag, which works in FF and IE, but is NOT
part of any w3c spec. Searching w3c also gives a draft spec for css3 marquee
styles. Which I'd never heard of.
Finally, if you Google "javascript marquee", you'll have over a million
hits. One thing: most of the javascripts scroll one letter at a time, and
can be jerky with proportional fonts (because "i" is narrower than "w" for
instance")
