I still think, you do not need to select 35000 records. I a user selects from a list I doubt the list contains 35000 records. You could use the list for preselection and then use ajax in order to retrieve the records selected by the user.
Just imagine, many users doing the same thing at a time, everyone trying to get 35000 records over the same out line... Your application would soon get to it's knees...
