Eclipse should only open 1 template from the search results. If you use the prev/next buttons to go through the results, when it gets to the end of one template, it'll close that template and open the new file in the same tab. The only time it'll open a new document instance is if you made a change to the file and didn't save or you right-click on the document and select the "Open" option.
