Thanks for all the replies - I have moved forward a little :-)

I now have one domain running CF8 and the other Railo 2 rc 1

but by running I mean serving up a Railo error
I browse to the root and get a directory listing of my virtual directory
but when I click on a file, Railo says it can find it
- it is looking for it in the JRun directory - not the virtual directory
        Page /railo.cfm
[C:\JRun4\servers\railo\default-ear\default-war\railo.cfm] not found

What am I missing?
I am soooo close now I can smell it.
