I have a few plugins for firefox...ColorZilla, FireBug, FoxLingo... But
keep in mind that the same effect exists in IE6. After disabling all of the
plugins as well as javascript in Firefox, the effect no longer exists where
Firefox.exe spikes ~60% CPU and stays around that % until the browser or tab
is closed (with javascript enabled).

After disabling javascript in IE6, CPU usage was down around 2 - 5%.
Immediately after I re-enabled javascript and refreshed the homepage of
houseoffusion.com, CPU usage for IEXPLORE.EXE spiked at 60% and lingered
between 50% and 60%.

I've downloaded the page here locally (just a save-as from within IE) and
I'm unable to reproduce the issue locally (just by accessing it as a file).
It seems like everything that should be running on the site is running when
the page is saved as a local file. (I didn't see anything missing, though
your top banner only shows a text based Dice advert instead of the expected
banner)

Not sure if that helps at all...

Can you disable javascript for your browser and try again? If you still have
a problem, then it may be the flash banner on top. If not, then its probably
the javascript. If so, I'll see what I can do to minimize the hit. The only
'real' javascript I have on the site is Google Analytics.

Oh, and firefox seems to be a hog in many cases. It grabs a LOT of memory
and doesn't let it go and counting on the plugins you have, it can even
freeze or hit high CPU for some sites. Is your firefox stock or do you have
plugins?
