That's just plain disappointing. I'm shocked that Google would have gone as
far: the storage costs alone just for the converted videos must be
outrageous - to duplicate one of the largest video libraries on the planet
just for one device (well... maybe two devices since the Apple TV will
probably use them as well)... just because Apple won't support anybody
else's format?

To segment the service, inflict new requirements on Google and confuse the
hell out of people that don't understand why only a small portion of the
videos on YouTube work when the ads say it's supported is just plain
crazy... it seems like a small portion of this effort would have been needed
to get Flash running on the phone.

It runs on my Pocket PC, on my PSP, on my PS3 and on my Wii. I can watch
ANY YouTube video (or Break.com video or Google video or HomeStarRunner
video, etc) on those devices already. The lack of Flash will also, of
course, mean that the whole "the Web the way you're used too" talk is just
bullshit as well.

I knew that I wasn't going to consider one getting one the moment they
required iTunes to use it (I can't stand iTunes)... but this cements, locks
and engraves that decision.
