$50/per head is not the issue. Our application runs against MS SQL, and given it's enterprise nature is likely to stay there. If there were to be a move (very, very doubtful), it would be to Oracle. Not casting stones at MySQL or PostrgreSQL--they're great. Just not appropriate for our specific application/business domain.
