I am relatively new to using Apache and Unix with ColdFusion and I am
trying to transpose my IIS/Windows security knowledge. Can anybody
point out good how-to's or tutorials on how to implement user
authentication and authorization for Cold Fusion applications within an
Apache and Unix system? I'm looking for ways to connect to the existing
security systems not to create stand alone security for the application
that would be maintained in an application specific database or other
data store. So that users could use existing security credentials to
access an application. In the past I would often do this on windows
servers with NTML|Windows Integrated Security and|or Active Directory
with LDAP.

P.S. we have a mixed system here, our web servers are Apache/Unix
servers but our work stations are Windows XP and there exists a windows
network domain with active directory, but I can't see easy ways to
access this from ColdFusion code running on the Apache servers.

TIA
Ian
