Subject: Re: I'm Old - ColdFusion 4.x

Well... Big question.

The coolest change since the 4.x days is the introduction of the Developer
Edition of CF. You can now download the trial edition from the Adobe site
and install it on your personal workstation at home and the license never
expires. So you can play with it all you want this weekend.

Now, the biggest downside to coming from CF 4.x is that it's now built on
Java and has an object oriented flavor to it. The use of CFCs and Java is a
common expectation among people hiring right now. I know I expect to see it
from anyone I hire. Since you have just a few days, I go hit whatever local
bookstore you've got that might carry Macromedia books and pick up the CF7
WACK (Web Application Construction Kit) Hit as many chapters as you can over
the weekend, focus on chapters about features you don't know. CFCs, using
Java, new features in cfquery, Application.cfc.

HTH and Good Luck

called Adobe and they couldn't help and the training center(s) on their
website do not return calls and they have no email address to send questions
to. 2. Is there an online tutorial website that I can use to get
reaquainted with CF over the weekend. I obviously do not have the CF
product at home or where I currently work. I have an interview on Monday
and I'd like to "play" with CF as much as I can over the next few days. Any
advice?
