Mikkel, check the reference guide. There is a whole section just on the JS api for stuff in CF8. It looks like there _IS_ a way to force an area to collapse (ColdFusion.Layout.collapseArea), and do the reverse, but unfortunately I don't see a way to capture the user doing it.
