Hey Rob, others, thanks for the input.  the RIAforge site had a nice little
app to manage SlideShowPro (http://slideshowpro.net/).  SlideShowPro itself
is not free, but 25 bucks is pretty damned cheap.  And the admin is free.  I
had the admin up and running within a half hour, with lots of distractions
along the way.  I think this is the way I am going to go.
