The C++ behind Cold Fusion Server 4.5 is also "server side".

For this to be true, the C++ code behind Cold Fusion Server 4.5 must be really bad
and both the C++ code behind the Java Runtime and the Java code itself for the Cold 
Fusion server must be really good.

I'm not saying it's impossible... just not likely due to the fact that C++ is compiled 
and Java is interpreted by a program written in C++.
