I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. I think I will just try uninstalling apache, and reinstalling the version that MX 6.1 works with.
I've never used the multiserver configurations for MX7 or 8 yet, so I wouldn't know what I would be doing, by trying to add a new instance with MX 6.
