Here's a quick update. It looks like the problem is related to CF8's new ability to cache queries that use cfqueryparam.
I found a comment attached to an entry on the subject at "Blog in Black": - http://www.bloginblack.de/archives/000887.cfm The comment was made by "Rahul"... which I assume means Rahul Narula. He indicates that the issue is being worked on at Adobe, and will hopefully be resolved in an upcoming hotfix. Meanwhile, the workaround is to avoid using cfqueryparam in cached queries...
