If you had <cfset str="<cfmenu name=""test""><cfmenuitem display=""Test""></cfmenuitem></cfmenu>"> If you just put a <cfoutput>#str#</cfoutput> the menu is not generated but when you look at the source code of the web page, the menu code is in it as <cfmenu name=""test""><cfmenuitem display=""Test""></cfmenuitem></cfmenu>.
