Thanks guys for your thoughts on this, you're all making good logical sense so I'll defiantly play around with this stuff. Interestingly enough I was reading an article from BarnyB just yesterday about using AOP to control transactions, it might be a good place for me to learn a little more about implementing AOP, effectively killing two birds with a single stone, learning AOP and adding transaction support to my extended components.
