you creat www.mydomain.com as a CNAME in your DNS record. Your A Record for the website points to the IP Address for mydomain.com Then you setup a CNAME that points back to mydomain.com
Does that make sence? Well, I recognized most of the words. :-) Actually I know just enough DNS configuration to minimally understand what you are talking about. But it gives me more proper terminology to filter my Google attempts to relevant results, I hope.
