Sounds like you are not authorizing to the SMTP server. By nature an SMTP server will accept and deliver email for it's own users but will not relay email to another domain unless you are authenticated. This reduces spam otherwise an SMTP server could be used to pump out thousands of messages.
You will need to supply a valid username and password in your mailserver settings inside of administrator. Odds are this is your own username and password for your pop login. J.J.
